Seminars

The Living Stones seminars are aimed at busy church leaders who know they need ongoing training but have limited time available. They provide biblical, theological and practical training. These are compact modules of study and in that sense, more than mere seminars.

Eldership - Leadership Seminars

  LEADING WELL: Getting Organised Without Losing Our Soul

This seminar, for your elder team as well as ministry leaders, will be taught by Rowland Forman and Darryl Purdy (CFO at UCol). It will examine the need that many churches have to get more organised. How do you manage your church well as an organisation while recognizing that the church is an organism? How can we inject more efficient systems into our leadership of the church without losing sight of the need to care for the souls of our people? This seminar is for all existing and emerging elders and spouses.

WISE SHEPHERDS: Making Decisions that Result in Effective Shepherding

This seminar, taught by Rowland Forman and Darryl Purdy (Bible Teacher at Crossroads Bible Centre, Palmerston North) will look at the decision-making process, how to identify, select and appoint leaders and how to deal courageously yet graciously with sin in the fellowship.

Small Group Seminar

EXPERIENCING COMMUNITY: Practicing the Biblical One-Anothers

How can your small groups experience more authentic community? This Small Group training seminar will explore the primary biblical one-anothers such as “pray for one-another,” “accept one-another,” “encourage one-another”, “bear one-another’s burdens”, and “spur one-another to love and good deeds.” It will also contain practical strategies to help your group go to a new level in their relationships with each other, while maintaining an outward focus toward the lost and the least. This Seminar, taught by Rowland Forman (and other contributors) is for all of your Small Group Leaders as well as Coordinators of Small Groups in your church.

TRANSFORMING GRACE: Following Paul's Footsteps

From a political terrorist to pioneer church-planter, the Apostle Paul’s life is a study of transforming grace. This seminar, taught by Reuben Munn (Senior Pastor of Shore Community Church) will trace Paul’s life and his often turbulent relationships with churches in the Mediterranean. His letter will be discussed in the context of his life and work. Come to gain a new appreciation for this man who profoundly shaped Christian history. This training day is for all Christians wanting a better understanding of the book of Acts and Paul’s letters.

DIGGING DEEPER: Learning How to Study the Bible

Do you long to know God’s Word better? Few things are more important in the Christian life than knowing how to interpret, apply and live out the Scriptures. This seminar, taught by Daryl Bay (Teaching Pastor of Hope Community Church, Nelson) will give you practical Bible study skills as well as principles on how to interpret and apply Scripture.
