The Living Stones seminars are aimed at busy church leaders who know they need ongoing training but have limited time available. They provide biblical, theological and practical training. These are Compact Modules of Study and in that sense, more than mere seminars. They involve some Pre-Seminar reading, a one or two day seminar (depending on the topic) and post-seminar readings and assignments for those who wish to access the extra material.
Effective Eldership 2 This seminar (part two of a seminar we offered in 2009) provides ongoing training for elders, future elders and spouses. The three topics are: "Living Within Our Limits" (this session explores the danger of elders taking on too much, holding on too long, and controlling versus empowering), "Elders as Equippers" (this session examines the responsibility of elders to prepare future elders and to pass on the baton of God's truth to the next generation), and "Three Vital Questions" (this will explore three questions that all elder teams must face). It's not necessary to have attended Effective Eldership 1 in order to enroll in this seminar. Kelvin Gardiner (former CEO of Christian Recording Centre and former Superintendent of CMA churches in the North West of the United States for 15 years) and Rowland Forman will teach this seminar. The cost is $70 and there is a discount for groups of 5 or more. We plan to offer this seminar in six locations: Masterton (6 March), Dunedin (17 April), Wellington (21 August), Auckland (2 October) Feilding (9 October) and Matamata (6 November).
Spiritual Mentoring In addition to pre-seminar readings on aspects of church-based mentoring, this one day seminar presents topics such as "Mentoring Like Jesus: The Gift of Transformational Friendships," "Mentoring as a Dynamic System," and "Your Mentoring Toolkit (intensely practical sessions on the art and craft of mentoring). Michael Hanson and Rowland Forman will teach this seminar. The cost is $70 with a discount for groups of five or more. Dates and venues will be decided after we hear from sponsor churches. We plan to offer this seminar twice in 2010.
Grasping God's Word Few things are more important in the Christian life than knowing how to interpret, apply and live out God's Word. This one day seminar will give you practical Bible Study skills, principles involved in accurately interpreting and applying Scripture. Daryl Bay (Teaching Pastor, Hope Community Church) and Michael Hanson will teach this seminar. The cost is $70 (with a discount for 5 or more) and dates and venues will be determined once we know the sponsor churches. Dr. Tom Golding (Principal of Adelaide College of Ministries) will teach this seminar. The cost is $70 (with a discount for 5 or more) and dates and venues will be decided once we receive invitations from churches. This seminar is being offered twice —Auckland (19th June) and Nelson (26 June).
The Nations This one day seminar will explore topics such as, "What is God's plan for the Nations?" "What are the current trends that are shaping what is happening in the world?" and "What can your church do to partner with God to get with His agenda?"
